The better Joker: Jack Nicholson or Heath ledger

Joker; The Agent Of Chaos.

The Batman Franchise is well known for the display of iconic Joker version, be it anaction life movie or animations. The Joker of 1989, Jack Nicholson and the Joker of 2008, Heathcliff Andrew Ledger, are being a part of massive debate for a while now.

Jack being first joker of batman films paved through the way stunningly clownish. He simply breathed new life into the character of 1989 blockbuster and played the character to the extent of being a perfectmadman. Jack’s portrayal of lunacy was next level of super villain-ishly evil. Despite of all the edges to Jack’s character, it still stands under the shadow of the one performed by Heath Ledger, who won the Posthumous Oscar for the best supporting actor in 2009. Therefore, in recognition for both the portrayals, we hereby list the five reasons to as who is better than whom to make it easier for you.

Sophistication is not a cliché.

Bruce Wayne of the Gotham City is as sophisticated as one super hero could be and to beat that level, theJoker has to be as sinisterlysophisticated as possible. Moreover,we have observed that during Jack Nicholson’s performance when re-painted the local art museum with green and orange paint, or, when he deformed his mistress and called her a work-of-art. Throughout the movie, he exhibited his colorful aura after retaining his joker side.

The Joker Smile.

Heath Ledger had his iconic smirk fixated with scars on either side of the face that gave him the more realistic dominance over the character and made it much easier for the Makeup Artist, John Caglione Jr. but the divergence of Joker from the perspective of comic book was also clearly portrayed. Heath added his style persona to make it look like more menace than ever; those facial transitions were remarkably observed throughout his performance.

Heath was not a guy with a plan.

During the famoushospital scene where the joker dressed up as a nurse and went to the hospital where Harvey Dent was laid up, he said to him:

“Do I look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I am the dog chasing cars. I would not know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just…DO Things.”

The ending of the sentence feels so real when you realize that he was playing the role that has always been so remarkably played by Jack Nicholson and yet being in someone else’s shoes, he gave his character his own menace finishes and that’s the beauty of Heath Ledger.

Below is the synopsis of “The Dark Knight”, per IMDb

When the menace known as the Joker emerges from his mysterious past, he wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham. The Dark Knight must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.

Ledger is first and only to win an Oscar for playing the comic book super villain in the movies. His take on the character of Joker will be remembered and praised for being most iconic and one of its kind of performance.

Classy Henchman

The connection between the goons of Joker and the Joker himself is shown much clearly in Batman (1989) rather in The Dark Knight (2008). Although, the goons were barely of any service possible but it was a great show time when they followed Jack Nicholson (the joker) to his raid on the art museum.

The list of who is better joker could go on infinitely, but to my opinion and liking, it was and will be Heath Ledger, always. Despite giving nineteen box office hits, he is ordinarily-but-no-so-ordinarily known for his bewitching portrayal of a super villain The Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’, blockbuster film of The Batman Series. And his obsession to mark a smile on serious faces has won it all. Unfortunately, he was found dead in his Manhattan loft, NYC; the dream city was not so dreamy for him after all.
